There's plenty of playground and recreational area at the beginning of the park, including a very large fenced in dog park that seems to get pretty decent use. Mecklenburg County became the owner when the City and County Park and Recreation Departments merged in 1991, and shortly after that built the Reedy Creek Environmental Center (later to be named the Nature Center). So I was actually selling some children video's on FB Marketplace and the lady asked me to meet her here.

Fish attractors are marked with buoys.

We only have used the dog park at Reedy Creek, and it's pretty good. If you're looking to get a little fresh air in your life it might be worth a visit. We always go a different route and see some new treasure from nature. But they also did not have poop bags, plenty of poop stations, doesnt seem like the poop bags are regularly replenished. His dogs will often give you a friendly greeting and the hospitality just continues. We explored this park last Saturday morning while practicing social distancing.

The bank is cleared around this 3-acre pond. There are indoor and outdoor picnic facilities, extensive benches, playgrounds, a disc golf course, a dog park, a community garden, several ponds, and a lakeside fishing pier. There are miles of walking trails, a playground for the kids, a dog park, basketball courts, baseball diamonds, a nature center, picnic pavilions for reservation, and two lakes with fishing.

We spent maybe a couple of hours there exploring.

Great trails. I love this park. Just enjoying the sounds of nature brought us both to a level of peace. Another thing I want to add is that technically the park does close at 5:00 I believe but there is no gate code or security patrolling to make sure that people aren't going in past 5:00 and a lot of times that's when my schedule is freer so I end up just going when it's "closed".

Improved access trails surround the lake. None of the trails are very long and they're all pretty flat. I found my way back to my car by asking directions. Lastly a dog park that and recycling center that is always kept up. Bring water and snacks and spend the day. Huge outdoor space to do just about anything from riding your bike, walking your dog on a trail,  brining the kids along to play at the huge playground to going fishing this place has it all. So much space for activities! We went to the nature preserve and walked a couple of trails. The trails seem pretty well maintained, and there isn't a ton of elevation change, just know that if you're someone who likes listening to music while you jog the cell service is pretty bad (at least on T-Mobile). Fun program to bring the kids to as well as for adults to learn about what is edible and what is not when you are out there hiking, in the woods or anywhere there are trees and flora. We drove down and parked at the very end of the park, by the nature preserve. It's actually a lot bigger than I expected the first time that I visited but I love it because it's so close to the university area and where I live that it's not a long drive and I find myself looking forward to the next time I get to go. As for the dog park:I came in december and the park had zero grass, not surprised. We will definitely be back here again! Most of the bank is clear of brush, and a universally accessible, concrete walkway encircles the 6-acre lake. I enjoy this park, which is very convenient to the University/Harrisburg area. I saw a woman whack the ears of a husky with the back of her leash because he was trying to play with her tiny 5 lb dog.
